Istrian Y Motorway is a motorway infrastructure of a total length of 141 km connecting the city of Pula with the town of Umag and the city of Rijeka. The major part of the Motorway expands through the County of Istria and, to a lesser extent, through the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The proof that the Istrian Y Motorway is the key infrastructure for the development of tourism and economy in Istria, is given by the figure of 10 million vehicles per year and summer peaks of over 60,000 vehicles per day.
Since the beginning of its construction, 600 million euros have been invested in the Project, while the maintenance program is worth up to 85 million kuna per year.
The level of safety of the Istrian Y Motorway was rated at 4 "stars" by the European Road Assessment Program (Euro RAP).
The end of the first phase of the Project ensured the connection of Pula with Umag and Rijeka. The second phase was completed in a record period of two and a half years and was marked by the launch of the first 100 km of motorway in Istria.
The final phase of the Project envisages converting the last kilometres of the current Y Expressway into a motorway and construction of the second tube of the Učka Tunnel, which will enable the connection of Pula and Rijeka by a full-width motorway.
Of the many advantages expected from the completion of the Istrian Motorway project, we are most proud of the reduced the number of traffic accidents and increased level of safety and comfort of travel for our users.
